وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ

Wallayli idhaa yaghsha

By the night when it covers

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ

Wan-nahaari idhaa tajallaa

And the day when it appears

وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ

Wa maa khalaqadh-dhakara wal-unthaa

And He who created the male and female

إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ

Inna sa'yakum lashattaa

Indeed your efforts are diverse

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ

Fa-ammaa man a'taa wattaqaa

As for he who gives and fears Allah

وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

Wa saddaqa bil-husnaa

And believes in the best reward

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ

Fasanuyassiruhoo lilyusraa

We will ease him toward ease

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ

Wa ammaa man bakhila wastaghna

But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

Wa kadhdhaba bil-husnaa

And denies the best reward

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ

Fasanuyassiruhoo lil'usraa

We will ease him toward difficulty

وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ

Wa maa yughnee 'anhu maaluhu idhaa taraddaa

And his wealth will not avail him when he falls

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ

Inna 'alaynaa lal-hudaa

Indeed it is upon Us to provide guidance

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْـَٔاخِرَةَ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ

Wa inna lanaa lal-aakhirata wal-oolaa

And indeed to Us belongs the hereafter and the first life

فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًۭا تَلَظَّىٰ

Fa-andhartukum naaran talaDHDHaa

So I have warned you of a blazing fire

لَا يَصْلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْأَشْقَى

Laa yaslaaahaa illal-ashqaa

None will enter it except the most wretched one

ٱلَّذِى كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

Alladhee kadhdhaba wa tawallaa

Who had denied and turned away

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَتْقَى

Wa sayujannabuhaal-atqaa

But the righteous one will be kept away from it

ٱلَّذِى يُؤْتِى مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ

Alladhee yu'tee maalahu yatazakkaa

He who gives his wealth to purify himself

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعْمَةٍۢ تُجْزَىٰٓ

Wa maa li-ahadin 'indahu min ni'matin tujzaa

And not giving in return for a favor from anyone

إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

Illabtighaaa'a wajhi rabbihi al-a'laa

But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, the Most High

وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ

Wa lasawfa yardaa

And he is going to be satisfied
