إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتْ

Idhas-samaa'unshaqat

When the sky has split open

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

Wa adhinat lirabbihaa wa huqqat

And has responded to its Lord and was obligated

وَإِذَا ٱلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ

Wa idhal-ardu muddat

And when the earth has been extended

وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ

Wa alqat maa feehaa wa takhallat

And has cast out what was in it and relinquished

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

Wa adhinat lirabbihaa wa huqqat

And has responded to its Lord and was obligated

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًۭا فَمُلَـٰقِيهِ

Yaa ayyuhal-insaanu innaka kaadihun ilaa rabbika kadhaan famulaaqeeh

O mankind! Indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with exertion and will meet Him

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ

Fa-ammaa man ootiya kitaabahu biyameenih

So as for he who is given his record in his right hand

فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًۭا يَسِيرًۭا

Fasawfa yuhaasabu hisaaban yaseera

He will be judged with an easy account

وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًۭا

Wa yanqalibu ilaa ahlihee masrooraa

And will return to his people joyfully

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ

Wa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahu waraa'a dhahrihi

But as for he who is given his record behind his back

فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًۭا

Fasawfa yad'oo thuboora

He will cry out for destruction

وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا

Wa yaslaa sa'eera

And will enter a blazing fire

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا

Innahu kaana fee ahlihee masroora

Indeed he had been among his people joyful

إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ

Innahu dhanna al-lan yahoor

Indeed he thought he would never return

بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًۭا

Balaa inna rabbahu kaana bihee baseeraa

But yes! Indeed his Lord was ever of him Seeing

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ

Falaa uqsimu bish-shafaq

So I swear by the twilight glow

وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ

Wallayli wa maa wasaq

And by the night and what it envelops

وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ

Wal-qamari idhattasaq

And by the moon when it becomes full

لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍۢ

Latarkabunna tabaqan 'an tabaq

You will surely travel from state to state

فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

Famaa lahum laa yu'minoon

So what is the matter with them that they do not believe?

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩

Wa idhaa quri'a 'alayhimul-qur'aanu laa yasjudoon

And when the Quran is recited to them, they do not prostrate

بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ

Balil-ladheena kafaroo yukadhdhибoon

But the disbelievers deny

وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ

Wallaahu a'lamu bimaa yoo'oon

And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves

فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

Fabashshirhum bi'adhabin aleem

So give them tidings of a painful punishment

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ

Illal-ladheena aamanoo wa 'amiloos-saalihaati lahum ajrun ghayru mamnoon

Except those who believe and do righteous deeds — for them is a reward uninterrupted
